How the Skibidi Toilet Shooter Runs in Your Browser

One web page, no install

The Skibidi Toilet game on this site is a browser build of Skibidi Shooter. There is nothing to download: the page loads a set of files from this site and the game starts in the frame above the article. This post explains what those files are, which also helps if the game will not start for you.

Built with Construct

The game's page names its generator as Scirra Construct, a game engine that exports to HTML5. A Construct game ships as a runtime script plus one large data file that holds every level, object and event. In this build that data file lists 13 numbered levels, a mode screen, two level and map selection screens, a weapon info screen and a splash screen. The game is drawn on a 1280 by 720 canvas that scales to fit the frame.

Where the 3D comes from

Construct is mostly known for 2D games, but this one uses Construct's 3D camera and 3D shapes for the streets and walls. The larger props are separate 3D model files in glTF format (.glb), loaded by a small model viewer script that comes with the game:

• a bus,
• three plant models,
• a toilet head and a toilet base,
• and a model used for the win scene.

The game also ships a pathfinding script, which is what the toilets use to find their way to you around obstacles.

Sound

All sound is in WebM files with the Opus audio codec, and the build includes an Opus decoder for browsers that cannot play it on their own. There are separate sounds for the pistol and sniper shots, an enemy taking damage, an enemy breaking, pick-ups, a win and a loss.

What gets saved

The game uses the browser's local storage. That is where your level progress and your best Endless score are kept. It also means your progress is tied to this browser on this device. If you clear site data, use a private window, or switch to another computer, you start again from level 1.

Mouse, keyboard and touch

On a computer you aim with the mouse and click to shoot; the keyboard is used for 1, 2 and 3 (weapons), P (pause) and M (back to the menu). The build also has a touch layer for phones and tablets: you drag on the screen to look, and you touch and hold the shoot icon to fire.

If it will not start

• The game needs WebGL. Most current browsers on Chromebooks, Windows, Mac and Android have it on by default.
• The loading screen has its own tip: if the game freezes, refresh the tab.
• If the game starts but you hear nothing, click inside the frame once. Browsers wait for a click before they play sound.
• Large 3D files take longer on a slow connection, so give the first load a moment.
